There are are 7 steps to keep in mind to get the best results for interview transcriptions to get the best audio and the best interview.

I have been doing interview for years and yet I am always striving for better ones.

1. If you are doing it in person, go to a quite place and put the microphone equal distance between you. Even a few inches different can make impact the ability how it sounds. What happens is that one person will be louder than another.

2. Talk slowly, distinctly, and in a clear voice. Sitting up straight and breathing fully can help a lot.

3. Write out your questions before hand.  This will help the flow go better.

4. If you don’t understand a word, ask them to repeat it and spell it.

5. If you are doing a phone interview, make sure that you have a good connection and use something like Skype and Pamela or Google Voice and Audacity to record your calls.

6. If you are wearing a head set, put the microphone in-line with your jaw, not up to your lips. This will give you a much better smooth sound because your jaw actually conducts some of the sounds from your vocal cords and you will sound like a Radio star!

7. Take the time to do a test of the audio before you get rolling. Either with the person you are interviewing which is best. Because then you can make adjustments such as one of you speaking up, or calling back if it is a bad connection or the worst, if things are not working at all.

If you are in a crowded room with a lot of background noise, then it will usually take us longer to get the transcription done, so we will have to obviously charge more for that particular transcription  which of course is only fair.
